Suzy Blok, director of Dansmakers Amsterdam, invited me to give a lecture in the Moving Futures Festival. Since 2013 Dansateliers joins forces with five other (talent)developers in contemporary dance - Dansmakers Amsterdam, DansBrabant Tilburg, Random Collision Groningen and Generale Oost Arnhem. With the network we aim to create exposure possibilities for the work of emerging choreographers on a national scale. MOVING FUTURES is a reaction to the growing gap in the visibility and performance opportunities for emerging contemporary dance artists. By joining forces, the five partners choose to stand up for an important new generation of dance makers. A generation of artists who is conscious of their surroundings, think of context and audience and create organic connections within society. With the development of their work, diversity is secured and the art form will keep on moving.
Moving Futures Festival In 2014 the first edition of the Moving Futures Festival became a fact. The Moving Futures Festival travels to different cities, presenting work by young emerging choreographers. Dansmakers that dare to touch contemporary issues, that seek interfaces in human behavior, philosophy and science and that challenge the audience with their performances, installations, tours, dinners and parties.
